About Course

Program Overview
The Certified Advanced Caregiver & Specialized Care Certificate prepares caregivers to provide
high-quality care to individuals with complex health conditions, cognitive impairments, chronic illnesses, end-of-life needs, pediatric care requirements, and home-based care needs. This program develops advanced caregiving competencies, leadership skills, clinical observation skills, and professional workplace readiness.

MODULE 1: CHRONIC DISEASE AND COMPLEX CARE
Based on Chapter 18: Providing Care for People with Specific Illnesses Learning Objectives Students will be able to: • Describe common chronic diseases. • Recognize symptoms requiring immediate reporting. • Assist clients safely during disease management. • Support rehabilitation and recovery.

Based on Chapter 19: Providing Care for People with Cognitive Changes and Dementia Learning Objectives Students will: • Differentiate dementia from normal aging. • Apply dementia care strategies. • Manage responsive behaviours safely.

MODULE 3: PALLIATIVE AND END-OF-LIFE CARE
Based on Chapter 20: Providing Care for People at the End of Life Learning Objectives Students will: • Understand the philosophy of palliative care. • Provide comfort-focused care. • Support families through grief and loss.

MODULE 4: PEDIATRIC CAREGIVING
Based on Chapter 21: Providing Care to Infants and Children Learning Objectives Students will: • Understand child development stages. • Provide safe pediatric care. • Support families of ill children.

MODULE 5: HOME AND COMMUNITY CARE
Based on Chapter 22: Providing Care for People in Their Homes Learning Objectives Students will: • Deliver safe home-based care. • Conduct home safety assessments. • Maintain professional boundaries.
