My philosophy when working with individuals and their nutrition needs has always been... “small steps can lead to major changes”. This is especially true with those struggling with eating disorders or dysfunctional eating. Food challenges can be complex. However, my years as a Professor of Nutrition at Marymount College, taught me to think critically about our relationship with food, seeking out the science behind our physical and emotional health It takes a team to treat an eating disorder and I was fortunate to be a part of several treatment teams, including a position at the Columbia University Student Health Center.
Working with college students and young adults has been my focus for many years, and using technology has helped us keep in touch during summers and breaks. However, prior to my work in academia, l held both clinical dietetic and administrative positions in area New York hospitals . My training began at Simmons University( B.S.. Nutrition). Columbia University (M.S. Nutrition Education) and a Dietetic Internship at the Medical College of Virginia, RIchmond.
Although I do love reading about food and thumbing through my 300 plus vintage cookbook collection, I do have other interests which include anything to do on the water... kayaking, sailing and snorkeling... as well as spending time with my two sons in NYC.
